Guys NZR but im swapping the mrs alternator tomorrow, and just wondering if there is anything in particular i should know before getting stuck in?

Its an mx5 and access doesnt look too bad, but just wondering if anyone has tips...

tip: take the old one off, put the new one on.

MX5's are really easy mate. just get a brew on the go and take your time.

si.

Disconnect the battery BEFORE you start!!!!! The alternator has a rather large cable just waiting to short out on the block and cause a nice big fire ;)

You should always disconnect the battery when working on a car anyway, good practice ;)

I always learn things the hard way and always forget the bloody battery untill things start sparking! Not best practise, just normal lol

LOL if that one sparks you're up shit creek bud  Major power cable and will weld just about anything lol

yeah, thats true. it'll either weld it or blow it apart. wander how i found that out..... hmmm. lol

if you've a metal wristband on your watch then you can see how long you can let the current flow to test your manhood!

Nice idea willie, although thankfully i did manage it with out sparking. Decided this wasnt an area to man up and hope for the best, so disconnect the battery i did.
