Hi I know that Auto's 300zx have different Turbo's fitted to them and have a quicker spool up when compared to Manual Turbo's due to a different a/r to compensate for the Automatic gearbox but where do you stand when upgrading to aftermarket turbos as you can't get aftermarket Turbo's designed for either manual or Auto?

If you fit say Greddy 18g's for example will there be a noticeable lag on an Auto when compared to fitting them on a Manual 300zx?

TBH mate if you're fitting 18G's i think you're looking at chipping the auto box anyway so you can get it set to suit the new spool times.

i think they put smaller ones on the auto so that when you come off the gas and it drops the revs down (unlike a manual) you dont have to wait ages for them to get back on song.

the lag will be the same on both but it may show more with the auto 'box is what im trying to say.

si.
