m8 of mine used to work designing stuff at Ferranti. There was MILSPEC this and MILSPEC that and MILSPEC the other.

 

One day he sent down a drawing marked up MIL-TFD41. Shop foreman came up later and said they were beaten, couldn't find the spec, what was it?

 

Dave replied "Make It Like The F***ing Drawing for once!"

Does anyone know how to adjust tjese things? mine will not release from the handle by the drivers seat, and I'm scared to remove it incase it bursts into flames or something.

I also read somewhere there is a lump of metal bolted to the actual tailgate to help weigh it down. You could remove it.

Quite right Trey!! When I had my tailgate stripped down for painting last year, I noticed a lump of metal doing nothing other than hanging there. Under futher investgation I removed rear wiper motor and noticed that they are the same weight 1KG each!! The lump is symetrically placed to balance the weight of the wiper motor when closing tailgate. So I junked it and saved 1 whole kilogramme of weight! Just another 200 or so to go now then ROFL!!

 

Now my Z weighs 1574KG, does 0-60 in 3.5 secs and 30+mpg

 

Then I woke up!!
