The beauty of this forum is there's so many people who've had the same problem before and you're bound to find the answer somewhere :)

Well done on sorting it out yourself and well done guys for coming up with the right answer :)

Yer right there mate, after phoning around on a problem i had 18 months ago regarding a non start, managed to track Jeff down, all sorted within 10mins and i've now been able to offer the same piece of advice on here many times since ;)

cheers

Here, here! Jeff is a great bloke who is always willing to give free advice. I have asked him many things and he has ALWAYS known what the problems are and helped me out. My car is going to Zedworld for a 60k service in a few weeks, even though I live in London, his prices are brilliant!

Nice bit of info.

Shame your autobox is about to pack up for good though bud.

What you need to be asking is, "What is the crap blocking up the filters?"

Answer, its the insides of your box eating itself away, the filter WILL block up again and you WILL need a new box soon bud.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I take it Jeff told you all that anyway.

It's a shame that someone like Jeff who used to post shed loads of replies to tech queries is banned, his input is very much missed. His advice is from experience not a stab in the dark. On a brighter note tho' every time I call into to Zedworld, he is very busy and currently expanding into yet another unit, next door.

Fancy doing a write up for the FAQ section? ;)

The strainer goes right under the sump pan of the autobox.

£35 plus vat at nissan.

so you have to take the auto sump off to clean/change it?

what kind of filter is it? is it just a wire strainer or is it paper ?

I had the same problem with my bro-in-law's Zed a while back. Some info here Basically drain the autobox sump, undo the securing bolts (about 16 of them IIRC), drop the sump cover, remove the strainer (3 bolts) and replace. Got mine from Mike Feeney in the Traders section.

sorry guys been away for a couple of days, yes just like cybernet said drain the oil on some auto boxes they dont have a drain plug so when u'll make a mess dropping the sump, its held in by about 16 bolts. then the strainer is held in by 3 bolts, "MAKE SURE U DONT LOSE THE SEAL RING WHEN TAKING THE STRAINER DOWN" and then top up will autobox fluid, when topping bac up i used 3 litres then ran her and kept checking the level, but im goin to change it again because there is still fluid in the coverter.
