Don't get me wrong,i luv my Zed to bits,but.....

every time i run over something as small as a cats eye,my back nearly breaks, and the car skips sideways.

The ol' girl has been lowered so much by the previous owner, that there is just enough room to get your fingers inbetween the arches and the tyres.

She's running on 17" wheels with low prof tyres.

I don't think the springs are shagged 'cos i bought it with a full MOT 6 weeks ago.

So if anyone knows how to make the ride a bit more comfy(oo-er missus) without making the car look silly, you would make a newby very happy-cheers!

Hey mate,

I think you need to take a look at the struts, if they are adjustable for hieght then they will benefit from raising the hieght. This will give the springs more travel and make for a softer ride, thats called spring preload, it wont look as good but you will be able to drive with your teeth in a bit better.

skipping sideways is normally either duff shocks or hicas arms

Thanks to your good self too,i'll get me geezer to check things out. :)

on mine it was a combination of the two, i had the hicas arms replaced and it got alot better. When i finally got around to doing the shocks and springs it eliminated it completely.

More comon reason for the car skipping sideways is that when the car has been lowered the toe has not been ajusted correctly.

I was only having this conversation with John Dixon this morning as my car has been a real handful after having work done and then being poorly set up.

The front castor was only half a degree out on one side and three quater of a degree out on the other, but it made her tramline and change direction everytime I hit a bump. The steering also felt vague even on the motorway.

reset the front and rear toe and caster. The difference is unbelievable. Car really feels solid and very predictable.
