I'm having problems dowloading pix from my camera to my c drive. I can download to d drive though. I get the error message"cannot download to this location. Either the disk is read only, the selected device is not ready, or the disk is full" I used to be able to download to c - any ideas??

Cheers

That is very strange. What program are you using? OS? What's the directory you are downloading to? Is a directory you always use?

If so delete some files or move them. At work the computer there say the HDD is full when there are 256 files in a directory or somthing like that. Delete some files and it works fine. Try that.

Vijay, you have checked the REALLY obvious - that the C drive isn't actually full - haven't you?

James.

I really doubt that is it full windows has a moan at you when you only have a vew hundres MB left.

It is most probably too many files in 1 direcotry. After 256, I think, the index is full and the computer cant write to it and sends an error of read only of disc full

Unless C: is a small (boot) partition and the OS is installed on D:

Just a thought.

Cheers guyz.

I've got a spare 20 gig, so it's definetly not out of space.

I just emptied the folder I used to put pix in and still the same problem. So I deleted the folder and then created it again and it works??????????? Why would that happen???

Cheers again,

Vijay

Possibly corrupt file system, run scandisk, deleting and recreating would have wrote the folder to a new disk sector,

Mike

Each directory can only hold eith 256 or 512 files cant remember which one. Over time you have accumilated files to that number and when you try some more, it says disc full because the index for that directory is full.
