Guys,

Need some advice.

As some of you may know i signed up for destination nurburgring 06 as I was unable to make the club trip due to work commitments. So i was well happy when i saw this trip given coverage in various jap car mags. "A great event last sees event going strength to strength etc". I should have smelled a rat early on in the process, the team were a nightmare to get hold of and repeated e:mails and voice mails left only led to the occasional call back. Nevertheless the desire to raz around the ring with a hundred like-minded people was too much of a lure. The website was professional looking and included an active forum of people all waiting in anticipation of the trip. My colleague at work got himself booked in order to take his M5 (V10) round its spiritual home too. We were gonna have ball with the Z and the M.

So 31 days before the trip we are supposed to get an info pack, didn't come, called the phone number got the usual voicemail and then eventually this friday (1 week before trip) got a call explaining "don't really need the pack its just a nice-to-have just be at folkstone 8am next saturday you will be met there by your group leader no worries mate."

Meanwhile I have organised child care, spent money on the car getting it just so, booked a hotel the night before departure etc. etc.

Then fook me today by recorded delivery i get a letter informing me trip cancelled !!!!!!!!

un-be-fook-in-believe-able...........

The letter is a lame apology and offers no explanation as to why at all.

Meanwhile these guys have got £700 of my hard earned and no doubt X100+ other punters in their bank account.

What can i do to re-coup my money plus all of my now out-of-pocket expenses?

Any legal types out there who can help?

In the meantime the cheeky bar stewards asked if i wanted to book th 2007 event!!!!!!!!!!!

My advice: you heard it here first is avoid this organisation like the plague and don't even think about signing up for next years trip. Sketchy as hell.

Gutted

Assuming you paid by credit card, get your bank to recall the payment asap before they clear funds.

Well team just got back from the ring and the Z behaved sweet. Did a 10min first lap which meant I equalled the time of that tranny van on top gear even as a ring virgin.(phew not going to embarrass myself) :)

Second lap all going well until the marshall pulls me over with a horrible burning oil smell........... :headvswal damn zorst has got a clamp hanging off and the burning stuff on the pipe means it looks like smoke is coming from my car. SO get to the local garage get it on a jack tighten it up. Back in business........... :) cept I have a blowing exhaust gasket from turbo to down pipe. Fook car sounds shite but at least i can still play.

Did a 9.45 but the place is busy as hell so no really clean laps to be had. Always some biker down or some jeremy bending some serious money motor. Saw two M3's and a gallardo in the armco  as well as lots and lots of bikes.

On my 7th lap the heavens open and apart from a couple of hairy moments with my traction control set to wet I really enjoy just trying to be smoooov as you like in the wet. No one passes me for the next 3 laps (racelogic  big up yourselves!)

Zed makes it home with no incident despite sounding like chug-a-boom from wacky races. 1,450 miles covered 131mph Vmax on the ring and 10 great laps. Check the pic

Well done mate :)

I had an awesome time there on the run this year.

The carousel looks so much scarier in real life when you hit it first time :o

Did an 8.5 ish min lap with an Aussie racer at the wheel ;)

excellent mate, glad you had a good time, was going to get there myself next year but bodywork has got in the way of that. roll on 2008

Cool. At its launch the Z was getting round in 9.15 mins. I used to race a bit in my past and reckon i was driving at 85% to get 9.45 but was slowed by not knowing the circuit, accidents, dickheads and bikes (it was way busy). I reckon after my 10 laps i at least knew what was coming for the first 40% of the circuit and then had familiar moments at various bits after. reckon I could get much quicker. I loved it in the wet as only smooth driving gets you round in one piece. it was amazing how many exotic machines had total jerks at the wheels and how many ring specials there were. The ring mini has to be seen at full tilt to appreciate it!

Chris

slightly off topic i know, but has any of the nurburgring track layout changed in the last 20 years?

Not sure, but the track on Grand Turismo 4 on the PS2 it 99.8% correct, even down to the bumps and camber lines. It would be worth spending a god few hours on that in order to learn the track.

Glad you had a great time but did you get your money back?

LOL £700 was for two people, tunnel (no chav ferry experience), 4 stars hotels and an 8 lap pass for the ring.

Sure I did it cheaper myself but the whole idea was someone else taking the hassle whilst i try to run and build my business........

Not sure Nicki would have enjoyed the amsterdam bit !!!! Mine you she was just as bad being a passener LOL

I have done a few laps on GT 4 and all i will say is I am great on EA tennis but........

You cannot compare at all. Sure 100 laps on PS two will let you memorise the corners but that is it and for example going round in the dry to the wet was like night-and-day.

GT comparisons are pretty useless really

Chris

come on the run with us next year(may07)....look's like you got some good time's there bud ... ;)
