H1 fitment , yes Main beam.

You want H3 for Dipped beam UK, and H3c for Dipped beam Jap.

Ok but adding earth to the H3 bulb would make it work on a Jap car right?

And is Xenon just a gimmick or is it much better than stock?

Unless you buy real HID it's just a gimmick. The blue coating actually robs the headlights of light output - especially in the dipped beams of a ZX. The projector beams have that opaque lens.....

If you don't want to stretch to an HID conversion, modify the H3C on a J-spec (not necessary for a UK car) to the H3 bulb and fit Osram Super or silverstar bulbs.

They don't give the "blue" effect but you can actually see at night!

I have done the HID conversion and it really is worth the money :hyper:

Rich, where did you get your HID kit from? there seems to be two types of HID kits on the 300zx.co.uk market, one for £240 and one for £160. Don't really know what the difference is, and to top it all off last I heard the lower the numbers (eg. 4000k) the brighter the bulbs are. Is this correct?

The lower the number, the higher the Illum is and less blue (more blue = less light). Generally 4300k - 6000k is an acceptable range.

There are many HID kits out there, prices vary, and some are very poorly made korean stuff that require extra work to make them fit.

I got mine from SWZ Performance, excellent quality and simple to fit.

I would go for the 6000k kit from swz performance but I'm not sure if that would be a straight replacement for a Jap import?

Yep, mine is an Import. Straight fitment.

There's a group buy going on at the moment. This particular kit has been rated amongst the top three for the past two years (together with Philips and Osram) and is fitted as standard equipment on many General Motors, Mercedes and BMW cars. Top quality, plug-n-play (no modifications) installation and full UK warranty from a UK based supplier. It may be a little bit more expensive but you get what you pay for ...

I got mine from Outlander when he was a trader here, in a group buy almost 2 years ago.

DTA do a nice kit now though - go for that!
