Exhaust Popping

Hi guys

I hope someone can answer why i have started to get exhaust pops... I Have recently fitted some bovs but can they really be causing this to happen? It never used to do it before i fitted them, It sometimes does it when going from 4th - 5th gear when giving abit of stick but not red lining it. Also, Can it do any harm apart from blowing ear drums at the passers by lol? I didnt really find anything on here about this subject but searched the skyline forum and found quite alot of threads on this and found it is rather common for exhausts to pop at mid/high rev range without doing any harm, Just the fuel running slightly rich?

If im honnest i quite like it but just wanted to know if its doing any damage to the car?

Much appreciated guys

Rob

It can happen for several reasons, an air leak somewhere on the manifold or unburnt fuel getting into the exhaust. Both have the potentail to cause damage to the exhaust, but probably not much more than that.
