Sky News are reporting that he was critically injured, but is stable. They also say he was trying to beat the UK land speed record and was doing around 300mph at the time of the crash!

I`ve been watching BBC News 24 : Glad to hear he`s "stable " . Hope he continues to improve . He`s a very engaging and deservedly popular presenter . Takes the stick from Jezza in good heart . Top man . His family must be in bits . Nice to see members here showing their concern . After all , there`s always someone reminding us all when T. G . is about to be shown .

They do take some risks driving fast cars as near to the limit as their abillities allow , for our enjoyment ( not to mention theirs :p ) . But a fookin` jet-powered car ?

Leave that to the Stig !

Get well , Richard , the world needs nice , funny guys .

I`m sure we`re all thinking about ya .

I agree totally with what you said Slowhand, my heart goes out to his wife and family.

I love watching him he is so funny and love him on Brainiac, he has just released a kids book on science which is brillant, my son (he's 12) thinks he's cool and watches Top Gear with me

His enthusiasm is just brillant as it is so natural he is such a petrolhead but in a lovely way.... He is a fantastic communicator and is great getting over the concepts in science in a fun way

I trust he will be ok and he recovers from this

Much love to him and a speedy recovery

sh*t,:( hope he recovers soon, thought go out to his friends and family. The hamster is a top bloke

BBC now quote Richard is 'seriously ill but improving' and his family are by his side.

They have requested no further info to be released for a while.

sounds promising.

Hope he pulls through ok, the news has said he has improved overnight.

cant beleive it...hope hes well soon

  Get better Hammie

Gutted to hear this, been watching news and hoping he pulls through. Thoughts go out to him and his family

She's already in hospital with her operation, and has proberly had her bed wheeled round by some nice young doctor.

Poor little fella let's hope he's alright.

I would post the actually quite funny take on it someone's done but i think i'll hold out till he's on the mend.

It is funny though and i think even he'd laugh if he saw it :)

GET WELL SOON HAMSTER! :D

Hope he gets better soon, as said before thoughts for his family! In the papers today it seems it was a tyre blow out at upwards of 280mph! Anyone got more of an update? Im hoping no news is good news at the moment for the lil fella!

Edit: I also think its disgusting that people feel the need to use this accident as an excuse to complain about the example top gear sets for drivers. For Fooks sake we live in such a nanny state as it is, why shouldn't skilled drivers be able to demonstrate what cars were really built to do in controlled circumstances?

oh yes. i hope shes ok . im sure them young docs will cheer her up. lol

No change for the Hamster yet. Still serious but stable. In LGI at Leeds, Clarkson and May visited this afternoon. Local radio station (Radio Aire) are passing on txts and messages from wellwishers to be given to him later. Sent a txt wishing him all the best from all at 300zx.co.uk.
