Did anyone go to North Weald yesterday? If so what times did you do? I was there very late and one guy in a red 300 "A12XTT" ran a 13.6 making him at the time the fastest 6 cylinder. Is any body going to the Pod this Sunday?

For info, that car is running the Silvia stage 1 boost upgrade plus nitrous.

Interesting Choice of Mods, Stage 1 Boost + Nitrous....wonder what system he is using.

I'm staying up in Birmingham tonight so I may pop in to the Pod on the way home tomorrow. If you're there, look out for "L7DEM" (unless I chicken out and take the Mondeo up to Birmingham today! :-) )

Nico,

I thought it was interesting choice too. He may have done filter and exhaust as well - can't remember. But the car is VERY quick. Mid to low 13s. My personal best is a 14.2.

All you new stage 3 guys should get to the strip and see what you can do. You should certainly be in the 13s with your manuals.

The last time I drove the pod I got low 15s, I crunched the gears, spun the wheels too much and 15 was my best time, I wont mention the others.

BTW - at the time I was running 100% stock back in 1995/96.

I would like to have given that guy a race now I have my upgrades. I would hope for very low 13s???... I should have the edge on the start with my TC now...

the best time i got in my auto was 13.8

What do you mean 'Those with Manuals" I wouldn't mind betting there isn't a lot in it. Remember we are not losing boost all the way to max. One long smooth wall of Torque. Non of that changing gear nonsense. While you lot are changing gears us Auto Drivers are lighting our Pipes!!!

at the risk of starting a light hearted war here, but not as derogatory as the US NA vs TT faction....

hmm.. those with autos.. must be like dodgems at the fairground.. or driving a computer game..

now, driver involvement, human error...

occasional duff gear change, clutch pedal reaction time...

that's where it's at :-)

Well, a manual wont beat an auto (similar bhp) unless you're very very clever with the gear changes. Personally, I like my gearbox, clutch to much to do near full throttle shifts. And as for my traction control launch control, well - that eats clutches too!

the greta debate auto/manual, well i have a manual and i dont think an auto will touvh a manual. That is my opinion, plus is there an event at santa pod this weekend as i am really keen to see if i can get in the 13's (at least i hope to ) my luck ill run 17's lol
