My mate was going to apply for a job he could easily get. It was with a county council in a field he was interested in. He's a bright guy - PhD from Cambridge in a science subject.

I saw him the other day and asked if he got the job.

He said he hadn't bothered applying as with the £30K a year salary he'd only be a few hundred quid a month better of than he is on the dole.

Makes me wonder why I'm sitting here working?

And, I was on in Army barracks last month that didnt have enough money for cleaning products to clean the bogs. Cos all the money goes to the scum. Like Craig David said.

After the day ive had, this is just what i needed to fooking read....................

ive worked my arse off, started at 7am tiling a bloody kitchen, then fitting a bath and shower, then quotes, then an emergency call. Just so i can get a few extra quid to buy my zed the engine it deserves and rip up the roads of Sussex. Thats not before my cheating ex wife dosent try and screw me for more money that i havent got.

There are workers, and people who want to work, let them have the jobs, and bow locks to people who " Oh i'd be better off on the dole" sure dam right you would, this poxy goverment, tax u when your alive, tax your family when you die, just so some donkeys can sit back and enjoy watching all the morning tv, getting drunk on hard working peoples money.

Thats it im hitting the Stella's.

Sorry rant over.

these people really p**s me off. there is always jobs out there, even if it means mcdonalds , cleaning etc etc. theres always something .theres no excuse. i would rather do one of these jobs than stand in the dole queue with all the s**t of this country ponceing.the thing is the government make it to appealling coz a lot of people are better off on the dole. theres no incentive to work sometimes. i just couldnt degrade myself unless it was an absolute must.

Here here, Yam R6, good on you

Unfortunately it makes all too much sense.

I'd happily swop with him - chuck in my job and get what he gets for nothing.

The problem's not him, it's our government dishing out money to idle feckers.

Did you know we spend more on social security than: health, education and defence put together?

I'd stop all their giros.

How much is he getting in benefits then?!?????? A £30k jobs gives you about £1700 per month take home pay, and it's not enough to get taxed at 40% anyway. I know he's getting his rent paid, and I realise he'll probably need to pay travel expenses or petrol, but even so. Even if he's "only" £200 a month better off that's still 6 skiing holidays worth of extra money every year (if you want to think of it in those terms).

Unless he's trying to get on the property ladder he'd probably be laughing. I'll admit that around Cambridge a £30k salary + probably no savings after all that time in education = not much chance of getting a mortgage, and certainly not for a 3 bedroom place, but it's hardly the be all and end all. The reason I'm buying a place has very little to do with an inherent desire to own a house, and much more to do with having house-shared for far too long and being in danger of going out of my mind because of it. I just want to live somewhere that's in the same state when I get home in the evening as when I left in the morning: the reason I'm buying is that it costs less than rent (just about) and the fact that you end up with something to show for it at the end of the day is a bonus.

Fekking hell, that makes my blood boil as much as that thread about the chappie "revving his car in a racist manner!!!"

This country has really gone down the poo shute. Blair's Britain - it is nothing to be proud of now, is it.

The national average wage is around £23-26k if surveys are to be believed yet this waste of skin can turn down a £30k p/a job because of what he gets on the dole???

No wonder my taxes are so damn high - I feel like I'm buying the country rather than contributing to the running of it; as the tax and employees NI deducted from my salary amount to more than my wife's gross earnings :nono:

Now if I could do a deal with the government that I pay no more tax, she could give up her £18k p/a job and stay at home. I could pay her and we'd be in the same position.......

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

It pisses me off ppl getting handouts like that i work my arse off 6 days a week 7am till 6pm for not much money and then theres my dad hes 59 worked all his life never claimed doll or benefits of any kind

4 years ago he goes in hospital 4 an op and catches that mrsa s**t thats gone now but both his legs are coverd in ulcers and he cant walk at all and he cant get f*** all

as i look at it it seems ppl that do bugger all get every benifit possible and ppl that are trully entiteld to it get sweet F A

It seems to me that if you know how to work the system, you can get exactly what you want,in the way of benefits.I know of sooooo many people who, basically seem to be able to claim for whatever they want, without doing fook all for it!Meanwhile, other people who have worked for donkey's years don't get a penny when it's their time to collect. It just pees me off when i come home from work,i see some of my gobshite neighbours living better than me,and doing fook all for it!Rant over-thankyou.

TBH all this was what made me vote Conservative at the last election... that and the fact that they had the thinnest manifesto of course. ;) But the whole "rewarding people for doing the right thing" idea appealed to me. No idea whether it would have worked in practice or not, but why *should* people who work hard and don't cause much aggro end up paying for all the people who don't work and/or do cause aggro?

I`m not an expert never having been out of work but dont you need to "sign on" in order to get your National Insurance "stamp" paid??????????

what the fook is his problem £30k a year, i only get a little more than that and i have a reasonable living always got a few quid in me bin, didnt have when i was on the dole although everything was paid for but it didnt give me any money in my bin to spend like i have now. Not just that you cant get anywhere with out working, you cant get a loan, mortgauge credit etc. And its about self respect

He's just a ponse, no one likes a ponse, i think he stuck up his own arse with his qualifications 30k not enough for his qualifications looks down on that sort of money. Well hes gotta wake up he aint even earning that.

Fooks me off when you hear of these people that sign on at different addresses and get dole at each of them

Ain't that the truth. Maybe he's so so lazy he's afraid it's going to be too much like hard work and beneath his social standing LOL

Spongers really pi55 me off.

The guys that work for us on our British Gas contract (Drivers) Earn on average £27K a year.

However they earn £16k of it between October and the begining of April. One so call worker sussed this and jacked it in in April saying he had family problems etc.

Word came back through one of the other drivers that he'd realised that during the summer period, because he's got 5 kids and a rented house he was £30 aweek better of in that period on the dole.

So when he asked for a letter to give to the social saying we had let him go due to personal problems I told them exactly what they were.

Cheek Tw@t applied for his old job back last week.

Can't a man in your position set yourself up as a limited company, pay yourself a wage just below the tax threshold and pay yourself the rest in dividends? You'd end up paying about 17% tax in total then.

Should also pay your wife as your PA at £10k a year and pay both of you dividends. It's actually 19% tax with no NIC.

I think this is the answer for anyone who is self employed.

I think you can get it effectively lower than 19% by ofsetting certain 'expenses'.

Very True and if you don't every couple of years they send you a letter saying how much you need to pay in order to pay it yourself
