Ask Mac1 i think me may have used one of these ;)

think it would depend on the cost difference to me. All in your looking at a manual conv costing betweeen £1100 and £1500 in labour vat etc, if the fast road box was good and £300-500 plus a bit of fitting might be worth it.

Go for the fast road box I really do regret having to part with it and replacing it with a brand new pile of shite manual  :headvswal

There is a big difference between a working fast road box and a half knackered standard auto box. No substitute for a manual though ... LOL :D

I have an uprated auto box. So much better than my old auto. Gear changes are more definite and quicker.

What about getting a fast road box then fitting Shift At Will?

What's the life expectancy of the fast road box? Supposedly if it's built stronger it should last longer or is it a race tuned ecu on a standard box with no upgrade?

Mine has uprated internals, gears, bearings etc. Also had something done to the oilways inside. Still has the same ECU. NOT done at Ztech tho so Ryan's might be different.

My gearset was buggered so I had a complete rebuild. It cost me £1300 inc labour. Unfortunately the bloke has moved to Canada. It's Paul Stevens nephew IIRC.

Didnt exchange mine, just waited for it to get done. About a week me thinks.

Ahh right, so about the same as a manual change then including the parts.

I'll have a think in the meantime while i save up :D

That would be my choice

Auto boxes are just fine if the performance is still there - Jag and Merc still fit autos as standard to their best performance cars. Autos are only slower than their manual counterparts on normal cars like a Mondeo etc.

Richard ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Torque converter is std i think, no idea what been done to the box as i never got it done. not sure if it was MAC1 that had the box rebuilt origionaly or somebody before him. Deffo a far superior box to the STD auto, kicks up and down so quick and seem to love being driven hard.
