thanks mate. this makes it even more difficult to understand why ins companies

charge almost 3 times as much for imports?

Serach on the forum for insurance, there have been loads of threads and the insurance is not as bad as these guys make out.

Norwich Union make no difference between Jap and UK for the years 90 to 94.

Tesco, Bell Direct, and A plan all insure jap imports.

Leigh

They charge more cos they have to import parts from Japan if it needs repairs. Well thats what they say, its just an excuse to make more money for themselves.

Are you wanting the differences like the headlight washers on UK models, seat belt anchoring positions etc. or differences with the engine management unit and auto box function?

thanks for the info guys.

and markt. i just wanted to know how different the jap imports were in general?

due to the ins co's making such a meal over imports!

while i'm on the subject. is there two types of imports?. i got a quote from my current insurers and they asked whether the import

will be a car that was made for the british maket?. i always thought the imports were cars that were bought in japan and imported?

There are 2 types of imported cars, but only 1 applies to 300ZXs.

Say I went and bought a Focus in Denmark (or wherever's the cheapest), had it built to UK spec and brought it into the country myself. That car would be exactly the same as if I'd bought it in the UK from a Ford dealer.

On the other hand, when I bought my 300ZX from a dealer in Tokyo and brought it into the country myself, it was not exactly the same as if I'd bought one from the UK Nissan dealer.

In the case of the 300ZX, there are very few parts that aren't interchangeable between UK and J spec cars. Some of the other Japanese imports have much greater differences, but we get screwed on the insurance anyway.

don't think the wife will like that idea much!!. ho hum.

Theres a UK car in the for sale section...

i've seen that but it's a white manual.

i'm looking for an auto also on a tight budget. but thanks for that mate.
