Hello i have a 92 300zx tt manual import

When im driving it changing gear normally its fine but when i boot it hard and change gear fast it crunches in 3rd and is sometimes hard too get in gear it does the same when changing down from 4th to 3rd aswell

any idears chaps iv got a quote from z tech for a rebuild £1500 What :hurl: and a quote from northampton gear box center £600 :p do you think it needs it or is it just bushes etc

Try redline mt90 gear oil it might cure it mine worked for a while mine just started doing it again when hot.Looking for a synco rebuild soon. :cool:

thats the trouble with 16 year old cars mate, as super as we make them they are still that old. i had the same trouble with my last 2 boxes- its the gear synchro mesh, it does wear out, specially when the cars driven to the red line... rather than get them recon'd, i bought another 2nd hand box and went through the same process... now on to my 3rd second hand box- this one i have been assured is fine. recon is inevitable im afraid my friend :cry:

i think im gonna get it reconditioned northampton gearbox center quoted me £600 to recon and £150 to remove and refit and thel give me a warrenty too and z tech quoted me £1500 with no warrenty mentioned thats a bit too much though

yup, sounds like the best option mate- can you post their number please, il look into getting my two other boxes refurbed and can then sell them on!

 

i thought ztech only deal with auto boxes though...? i was told that when i enquired about this last year.
