A had synco problems about a year ago and put in redline MT90 and it cured the 3 rd to 4th crunching problem at high revs.The problem is know its started crunching again .Has anyone had a gearbox rebuilt and how much and by who im in essex.I think i may put a uprated clutch in at the same time .Was thinking about a second hand one but i may have the same problems as lots of these cars have high mileage now .thanks taff. :cool:

Fifth gear on mine, it doesn’t happen much I think it’s only when the car gets really hot.

It Depends if u want it completely refurbed or just whatever needs doing sorted out ?? complete refurb can set u back £1k-1500 or to sort probs out ive had done for as little as £150.

That’s the only problem living up here I can’t find anyone that good with this kinda stuff. :( :cry:

import performance transmissions in the u.s. full synchro/bearing kit for a few hundred quid then just find someone to build it for you.

Taff - do you think the Redline MT90 had anything to do with the current problems? I ask as I've read somewhere that it puts extra stress on the syncros. I was going to use it as I'd also heard good things - but didn't in the end. I opted for Millers.

greg from Ztech was telling me 2day that if the gear's are crunching it maybe you need some shim's to space the gear not sure if this help's you but give him a pm......

spoke to zed garage today about exactly the same problem (4th and sometimes 5th on mine). i was told £1200 for a refurb (lots of labour). was also told to try mt90 and let it bed in for a few thousand miles but if that didn't work to look for a replacement 'box off a breaker....
