GREDDY TD06 L2 - 20G - 8cm^2

Those are making bit more power than the standard TD-06SH-20G's.

how much did they cost mate? what sort of power will those make

My brother with the TD-05's 16G did 690 at the wheels.

With those i assume that i should go over 700 at the wheels easy.

If will try and push them up to 32 PSI at the dyno because i want to go over 800

But that is just a speculation

They also cost me 1600 Cyprus pounds (around 1880 UK pounds)

thats cheap. there must of been import tax on them tho

  • Author
did you have to pay any import costs??

what was the postage like???

Neil

The price included everything. VAT and postages. And they also came in two weeks. I have very good contacts in Japan and i can get things pretty quickly and at very good prices.

i can feel a group buy coming on

If anyone wants anything major i can arrange it. The prices i am getting for Greddy parts are really good.

theyr bigger than my washing machine!

good luck with them bud, sounds like a stonkin bargain!

Wow they are massive and very cheap.

What spec are you going to be buliding the rest of the engine to.

any traders wanna get in on this??

know they expensive but a group buy of 5+ lots may bring the price down a bit?

Neil

i also take it that doesnt include ancillaries etc?

If you are not planning upgrading there is also the Greddy TD-04 15G turbo which uses the stock manifolds and is an actuator type. Definetely more power than stock and much cheaper than NISSAN stock turbos.

Greddy is selling a kit for the 300ZX using those turbos.

http://www.greddy.com/products/display/?Category=turbo&SubCategory=16

Propably they will be around 1000 UK pounds for both brand new and no core changes like JWT.

Same turbos as mine ;)

Also remember that the L2 20g's wont fit the standard TD05/6 downpipe so needs a custom one making up as i have found.

And remember people yes the turbos are fairly cheap but you will need 2 x manifolds 2 x external wastegates etc etc so your talking £1-2k for manifolds and another £500-1000 for wastegates so dont get carried away :)

You are right about the costs. However we replicate the Greddy manifolds with 321 stainless steel (cost us around 550 CY pounds) and we are making custom downpipes (around 180 CY pounds). So for us its not that bad.

I'm not sure i would want turbos as big as the 20g's hanging on them manifolds with welds like that  i hope them are just trial ones you have had made up ;)

They are much stronger than the Greddy ones. They are re enforced badly to avoid cracks thats why they might look bit nasty. And nobody can see them when they go in.

I will go for the Greddy ones Type S. I ll change the springs to hold more boost

i was told the type s ones are a little small for the 20g's hence why i got some bigger ones? think from the top of my head the type s ones are for upto 350ish bhp where as the L2 turbos can make upto 450 each!! i originally got some type R greddy ones but i have since bought some tial 38mm wastegates as there a little smaller and i dont have the facility to make the bigger type r ones fit but there monsters :)

The fact is that there is not much space to fit anything bigger than those. Even with the Type S you have a very tight fit.

But i know for sure that you can hold more boost just by changing the springs. We did this on my brothers ones and now they can hold more boost than before.

Problem is if there too big it makes the setup more laggy so its getting the right setup

thats simply not true is it

a wastegate remains shut until the required pressure is reached and then it opens. - the larger the wastegate the more air it can expel in a shorter period therefore the more accurate it will be in controlling boost pressure

where does turbo lag feature into this?

my way of thinking - if you are running a 76mm exhaust why only a 32mm wastegate?

alex
