I have never had a auto box before. What dose o/d do is it just for overtakeing, and there is also a button that says power or sport. Is it like the back to the future film? .Do I need to be going under a clock in a lighting storm before i can press it.thanks dean

Hi Dean,

O/D = Over Drive, i.e., a higher gear ratio to make your cruizing more fuel efficient. Pressing the button on the gear stick either engages over drive or disengages it. When it is disengaged, a yellow warning light comes on to the right of the steering column. You are now preventing the auto box to shift up into top gear.

The Power and Hold button next to the gear selector allows the transmission management system to either shift later in the rev band to give the car a more sporty feel (Power) or shift earlier in the rev band to allow for better fuel economy (Hold). When in the Hold position, the gearbox doesn't shift down as quickly as when the box is in Power mode or standard mode (which is the inbetween setting). Note, when in standard mode and you plant your welly in the carpet, Power mode is automatically selected for approx. 10 secs and then goes back to standard.

I hope the above makes some sense.

Cheers,

Danny

thanks danny it dose make sense now.But dose this meen I wont meet marty mac fly

Danny is right inwhat he says however the auto box is four speed with OD. What this does is lock the torque converter to effectively give you a five speed box (with the ecconomy that D mentioned).

Use Hold in the ice and snow (or very wet). When in power mode it will also change up at 7K rather than 6K but I'm not sure if it modifies the fuel map or just ups the revs by 1K?

Thanks mark for the info,I have always had manuals but now Im finding the auto box to be a wonderfull thing.

So for better fuel economy do I keep it on Hold?

No just drive down hill all the time ! lol

Seriously, I don't think using hold will save any fuel, using overdrive will though.
