Arse,

Don't beleive it.

Here I was sitting all smug while you guys moan about how this and that and the other has gone wrong with your Zeds while I've had to spend near nowt since I bought it. Bloody gearbox went tits up on the way to work yesterday. Got it in a garage near Docklands; not too sure what the problem is but worst case is £1200 for a new box plus £120 to change the oil cooler. Would shop around but I need the car on the road by Wednesday.

As I say, Arse frown.gif.

is it an auto box or a manual?

that sucks, but be posotive, at least you will have a new gearbox, one less thing to go wrong biggrin.gif

Auto. Been great so far. Think one of the clutches is falling apart (loud screaching t startup, fades after about 20 seconds, bit of drive for a few seconds then dies in any gear).

Oh well, first major failure not caused by me in two years; can't complain really.

Thats a good price for a new box.

NEW or recon James???

I paid 1200 squids just for a soft rebuild on mine. Torque convertor, burnt out clutches etc. etc.

SE fast road rebuild is about 2+K so that is bloody good if that is a brand spanker!

Not rightly sure Timmy.

Just told him to get it back on the road and working by Weds next week. He said he'd give it a 12 month warranty + recommended the oil cooler change (heard that on here so it sounded like he knew what he was talking about) and said worst case was £1200.

Beyond I think I have a similar attitude to you - no bloody idea what they do to it and as long as it works I'm happy. I'll let you know though when I find out next week.

Nice one mate. Touch wood mine has been fine since being done but I still need the SE uprated cooler for mine and need to get it on sooner rather than later! wink.gif

  • 2 weeks later...

Timmy,

turns out it's a soft rebuild too. All clutches, pumps, filter, etc. have been replaced.

Cost £1200 + VAT. Got 12 month / 12000 mile warranty including free checks at 500, 6000 and 12000 miles.

If anyone's interested the company is Mister Transmission in Charlton, SE London (near the dome). Very professional setup and they only deal with auto transmissions.

Out of interest, when I was talking to him he mentioned the Zed needs an upgraded oil cooler but when I picked the car up he said it already had a decent one that is different from the Series 1 coolers. Anyone know if it is different on the Series 2?
