Headlight upgrade Act Two - you bloody anarok Glen, shutup about lights FFS!

Sorry to bore you all twotless but I've never done a bloody bean on my car and now I have started pulling it to bits and upgrading it I cant get enough - blame JethroTT smile.gif

Anyway I thought I'd try 130watt bulbs in the newly done lights - pah! (being a Jap) the solder on the bulb melted in pre race trials after about 10 minutes - so I tried this little trick: wiring the earth strap to the bulb chassis and it seems to be much more a sound way of doing it.

I know that 130watters are stupid so I am gonna down them to 85's - has anyone else tried this:??

Seems like a more reliable way of getting the earth to the bulb..

Or should I not give up my day job LMAO!!

Cheez,

Glen

Is the bulb mounting solid metal or just plastic with a metallic coating?

I thought about that myself but was too worried I might destroy the mount - seemed a bit plastic-like to me.

I think its solid Chris.

H'apparently Nissan put this modification on Jspec zeds before selling them in Australia... not sure if this is the case but I'll give it a try and if it melts my car I'll let you know smile.gif

Cheez,

Glen.

You are right Glen this is the prefered method I do now as bulb replacement is a lot easier for one, but be aware that the security of the spring clip needs checking as due to hamfisted bulb replacements in the past most spring clips are bent out of shape slightly and will mean the bulb is not tightly retained against bulb holder chassis a few moments with a pair of pliars should sort it!!
