Hi guys, Another BOV question... Ive got some blitz bovs on hard pipes, I Dont want to take the recirc valves off but do i still need to bung the pipes on the recirc valves up or can i leave them as they are and bung up the small vacuum pipe ontop of the recirc?

Cheers

Rob

I asked the same question a while ago and the guys (as they do...) all went NOOOOO in unison.

The recircs, just as BOV's, rely on boost pressure to keep them closed as much as intake vacuum to open them up. If you don't remove the recircs you will loose boost and also experience strange hessitation.

You can get the right sized bungs for not a lot of cash... or even cheaper as i did, use appropriately sized pieces of dowling to plug the hoses.

just a quick question, do you have any of the dowelling left over mate, i dont really want to buy metre lengths of the stuff for 2 inches :)

27mm and 34mm are the two holes.

Thanks.

You've gotta get em off dude!!! Really easy to do, did mine myself... The pipes are wasy to bung up too.. I just got 4 brass bung stops from B&Q, shoved them in the holes, siliconed them up to ensure there would be no leaks and tightend them up with jubilee clips...

Thanks for that mate. So far I havent encountered any boost loss nore strange hessitation but have encountered that the idle is slightly higher than normal. I have tightly bunged up the vacuum hose that connects to the recirc and everything seems fine so far (touch wood), but as afew others have said in this thread i should get them bunged up to be on the safe side ;)

PS: is there any real danger by having the recirc pipes connected but the vacuum hose on the top disconnected?

PS2: One of my bovs is sticking slightly, is there any easy way in which i can get it to stop this? WD40 or anything like that?

Much appreciated fellas

Sorry mate I ended up using what i had left to make a couple of fence posts in the garden

I managed to get my length for half price as it was damaged one end  hint-hint

went to a plumbing shop, just for future reference to anyone else:

2 x 1" BSP copper blanking pulg

2 x 3/4" BSP copper blanking plug

sorted for a fiver, use a bit of silicone and clamp up the 4 hoses.

Sorry to ask this, but which size bung is needed when fitting a bov in the stock location? the 1" or the 3/4"?

Im guessing the 3/4"

Its just so I got the right bits to had when I fit them!

thanks in advance

Rob

If you buy the TurboXS RFL BOV's with Z fitting kit it comes with all the bits you need and REALLY cheap from Z1 Motorsports at the moment :)
