I would start by cleaning the connectors on the idle control unit first.

loads of threads about this. Clean throttle bodies and IAV, check TPS setting and closed throttle switch, adjust base idle correctly, if its still too high you have a vac leak.

This is of course made MUCH easier with the use of a conzult/datascan.

Like DGM says, clean up the idle control valve connectors.

I had this problem a while back, I used wd40 to clean up the idle valve connector, give it a good spraying.

where is idle valve connector mate.

got a latop and the disc with the program but do i need a special lead to connect to ecu. and what is the procedure for doing this. i,m good with the mechanics side as i,m a fitter by trade but the electric side is a bit of a mystery mate.still learning with these motors. what can i check/change with this program

before you start messin with idle valve and up-set the settings ide check the temp sensor conection or even change it first, common fault as the cars ecu may be on fast idle iff it thinks the engines cold

how do you set up the tps? and where is the idle control valve located?

cheers
