I've decided at long last to bite the bullet and get the car fixed once and for all!!! I have PM'd 2 traders asking for quotes on getting the tubs done but they haven't replied in 2 days!!

Just wondered about your experiences and who or what is the cheapest way to get them replaced/refurbed etc. Preferably 360 bearing upgrades.

On a final note could the problem be anything other than the tubs....the sympton is masses of smoke after flooring it on at a stand still or moving. It only happens when its warmed up by the way.

Thanks as always

Rob

I would be tempted to get a compression test done, wet and dry, just to eliminate any compression related problems, i.e rings, valves, pistons etc.

...could be a cracked head. Crack only opens when the head is warm. ...warped head, warp increases as head warms. ...from experience, it's mainly steam that you get out of the back. And if it was either of these, would the turbos pressurise either the oil or water systems? Excessive oil smoke used to be warn valve guides or valve seals. I'm out of date with this info as my last turbo car was 7 years ago, but I've run turbocharged cars for many years prior.

Good luck
