hi there,ive decided to de-cat my z the cheap way by smashing the insides out of them(tempory). cat back is off the car and ive removed the clips but they wont seperate from the downpipes???have i missed something?? also,i was wonderin what the other pipes are that branch out of the downpipes?? thanks in advance

the other pipes (if they are the ones im thinking of, much smaller in diameter) run to the aivs, which are in the front wings.

forgot to say - you can remove the aiv's if your getting rid of the cats - they are only there for them.

 

they do some sort of emissions or heat thingamyjig, i was told exactly what they do, but got as far as "you can get rid of them" and binned em.

 

 

 

as far as the cats - big fookin hammer, always works for the mechanics at work anyway!

If your car is a twin turbo do you realise there is a chance your turbo seals will go due to the increased back pressure?

Decreased back pressure ;) As long as the PCVs are renewed this shouldn't be a problem. Not 100% for sure but the odds are on your side...
