I've got new front disks which do not seem to fit properly. The disks I have are the correct size 280 X 30 and the correct PCD, but as soon as I put them on and tighten the calipers, they bind to the calipers and do not move.

I have measured the disks that were on and they are 280 X 26 (a bit too worn). Surely no one would do a brake downgrade! Could it be that my calipers have misshapen somehow? I am now at a total loss.

I have a 90 Import NA, could this be the reason. Perhaps different size disk/caliper.

not sure if the NA discs are same size as the TT, have u brought the TT discs by accident?

I sure hope not. The local dealer who I have never had problems with before, says that NA and TT disks are the same size.

Perhaps someone on here knows better.

I didnt think the oem discs were 30mm? i thought they were either 26 or 28mm in width?

NOOOOOOOOOO! NA and TT discs are NOT the same. The Offset is different.

sorry just noticed you have an na as well so yes you either have TT discs or you have some other discs which are too much in depth hence why the pads are grabbing them!! you need to take them back

Bugger. That's a pain because the place is now not open again till monday. Does anyone know the correct size and offset for NA fronts? At least then I can show him exactly what I am after.

Cheers guys, the place is just along the road so I will take one of my old disks along and show him.

It was only the 1990 NA that was different. From '91 on it was the same as the TT disc.

Yep, there's your problem then! ;)
