Hi has any one ever had a head pitted in and around the valve area and head gasket sealing ring area?

These heads have been skimmed before..

Can the head be skimmed and still be within tolerances even though there are worm hole pitting! I have heard some people have had to have the valves seated further in??

By head number i think you mean this one Andy as it is wiped off in the skim if the skim has reached its recommended limit at a guess??

Head on the left is off side bank 1,3,5 and two others are of bank 2,4,6

Fook me! Who skimmed those? Stevie Wonder? On the plus side, you'll get some beer tokens back if you weigh them in ;)

I'm not surprised the piston was hitting the valve LOL

Beer? On a friday? Oh yeah, good idea :D

Jesus!!

I'm only suprised the engine lasted as long as it did!! thats some serious piston slap you must have been getting :(

Looks like someone has skimmed the heads and then someone doing it again and took it far too low, not the first time ive heard of it happening

Agreed, although looking at the finish this is probably the first skim they had - they were just skimmed REALLY badly... Too many cowboys out there!

I did a compression test on it last year and it was good but it was a warm test so i did not suspect anything??

It just goes to show a car can look good and sound great and the Engine sounded sweet as everyone heard at the last mini meet in the forest not too long ago but it was a knackered Engine waiting to go bang!

Luckly i have a used (UK)Bottom end i bought from mowgs! :) and it has checked out real good! Everything within spec's Unlike my lower mileage jap engine

Just need good Heads now and a turbo rebuild kit or turbos!

Keith i should have just bought Every thing off you :slap: :D

Looks like that head has been welded in the past and bodged up.

To do a head job and not put coolant in is a heanus crime, and if you think the car was looked after in the past, think again.

Sorry to sound so shitty towards it but I wouldn't treat a lawnmower like that, let alone a performance engine. But now is your chance to do a propper job.

Scrawni.

I don't know why people buy cars like these or any car and do not maintain them!! I know its easier when you used to be a mechanic but it is not that hard to change a few plugs, change the coolant or (add Some  ) or carry out an oil/filter change  it just amazes me :nono:
