BOOSTING PROBS? OFF TO THE ZED DOCTOR ME THINKS!

Hmmmm,

Never before have i owned a car that has baffled me beyond belief!

Its still not boosting when its warmed up but is ok once i kill the ignition and re-start again- for a while! eek.gif

Once its been running for a while it only boosts just past the 7psi bar. Odd.

Well its in for a treat at jeff tt's-engine clean, throttle body clean, oil change and fuel filter change. Hopefully jeff can put a bit of light on the situation!

Could it be your detinator senspor? I hear when they play up this is the type of thing they do.

I had similar symptons a while back and it was the det sensor playing up. I also got a code 55 on the ecu diag but a consult test when running highlighted the problem.

Everytime you kill the ignition and restart, you are clearing the ecu errors and that's why your boost is back to normal until the error re-appears.

Also, most Nissan ECU's (but not all) limit boost to standard (7psi) until the water temp has reached 60 deg C and thereafter to whatever your upper boost limit is set to (9.5 psi as standard). I assume that shortly after that something is causing the ECU to limit boost to standard again.

Yeah back to the Old ECU error code situation.

It only returns an error code when it get garbage from the Det sensor (i.e it is returning a value out of range) If the Detsensor thinks there is detonation it will still limit the boost and not tell you on the ECU. You might not have Detonation of course just a dodgy sensor in strange kinda way.
