I just had a thought... how is we all keep our Zeds going and can afford their heavy drinking habit?

How many people just chuck money at it, and how many have to scrimp and save?!

Me, I don't want to know! Just clinging on, but if any big repairs need doing, I'm not sure what I'll do next...

How do you afford your Zed? 102 members have voted

  1. 1. How do you afford your Zed?

    • Ha ha ha, I'm loaded and I just throw money at it, repairs, mods, whatever it costs! :D
    • I've worked it all out, and I can afford the running costs and upgrades. I'm happy :)
    • Ignorance is bliss! I can't think about it too hard, but if my money balances I'm ok.
    • I really can't afford it, but I'm mad about the car so I scrape the cash together.
    • I live in a tent, no partner, down to 1 kidney, lung, eyeball; will sell bodily fluids for cash! :(

i can just afford the running costs. but if she needs some major work then that goes on my credit card :x: :x: :x:  :hurl:

join the club, i have a runabout to get to work, and i only use the zed in decent weather, it stops in the garage between october and late march, maybe comes out the odd day in between.

if anything major goes it stops in the garage for as long as it takes to get it fixed.

daily runner, got my own workshop to work in so labour costs me nothing - just the cost of parts.

IF IT BRAKES I FIX IT ...... SO THIS WINTER ENGINE OUT (RE-BUILD TIME) AND BODYWORK TO BE DONE...

SO GOOD BYE TO ABOUT £7000... :headvswal

..

i just hope nothing major goes wrong, i put money away when i can adding a bit each month, i like to leave a float of about £500 if nothing goes wrong all's well, if i got a bit more in the kitty i buy a few goodies for her, but i try not to worry too much otherwise wouldnt enjoy me motor.

Can't really afford it.

If it needs parts/petrol, the kids get beans again :D

Oh, and I have a much more economical runabout to use, a V6 3ltr Shogun :wack:

In order to fund my Zed habbit I have had to turn to crime!

I subsidise my income with sheep rustling

(oops hit reply instead of edit!!!)

In order to fund my Zed habbit I have had to turn to crime!

nik me a pair of wide rear arches and a front bumper then zenon bumper will do i dont mind that 1

edit... and can i have 5lb of minted lamb chops too

Sorry bud not that kind of crime but i can do you a nice woolly interior :)

Have a company car for mundane stuff, Wife has her brand new car for shopping and girlie stuff

And the Zed is for fun in the Sun

Sorry bud not that kind of crime but i can do you a nice woolly interior :)

lol sounds too good to miss, what about the chops then? lol

My Zed is my second car. I have a mondeo diesel estate as my family car so need something to brighten up my life, my Zed does this in bucket loads. Only do about 500 miles a month so running costs not too high. If something major went wrong as I'm a wrinkley I'd probably have to sell, so I hope that never happens.

Dave

i dont need a car to get to work, so theyre just toys. if it needs petrol i fill it up, and if it needs fixed i fix it. simple really

Affording it aint my problem its finding the time to do the jobs I want and then driving it. But I aint in no rush. Almost decided to swap it for a motorbike last week??? A GSX1400. The idea is still hanging around but I think the 300 will stay. :duffer:

Apart from a healthily appetite for petrol and rear tyres, I don't find the ZX expensive to run, either as a daily driver or a toy driven only a couple of times per week.

Plus I must have bought wisely 3 years ago because mine has (so far) proved very reliable, however if it breaks I will get it fixed - I won't worry about it.

But I guess having a well paid job and a only a small mortgage helps........ :)

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Spent more money in 2 months than in the rest of my life :o :o not just the Zed dentist cosmetic work which was nearly twice as much as the Zed

If it goes wrong will do as much as I can myself, Once this month is over more pennies to spend on my Zed. He's my daily runner but I don't have to go far in it daily if I donn't wish too :)

Also as we both have a passion for jap cars the hubbies car is no better but we have no kids to worry about yippeee I knew not wanting to breed was a good thing

Where's the "I have to sort it myself and loads of other Zeds on the east coast of Scotland" Option :)

i run apub so while all the customers are in getting :duffer: :duffer: it pays for the zed! however the zed is in peices :( at the mo so running cost are a can of petrol a week to keep her ticking over :)
