Has anyone used any sort of Coolant leak seal products like K-seal???

I don't want it as a permenant repair like they say, just a temporary seal so i can use the car for a few weeks and to drive it the 100 odd miles to south west z to get the head gasket done.

Any information would be great. Any better or recommended idea's you have so it's possible for light use of car and trip to SWZ would be great. I'm probably better off puting it on a trailer and not using it but i am without a vechicle at the mo and i need to get around. If i'm gunna do ireversable damage then i'll walk.

A few people have said it works a treat but they are driving normal cars, by that i mean they are not driving Zed's or TT cars.

Will it cause any problems when the head gasket is done???

This is what it says in the product info.

K-Seal is designed to be used to seal holes and cracks in the head gasket, radiator, heater core, freeze plugs, water pump casing and other metal components of the cooling system in both petrol and diesel engines.

The mechanic i got the car from says to use it, but this is the fecker that sold me the car so i take any info from him with a pinch, i mean mountain of salt.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Pete

i wouldnt use it mate, if you drive it and it over heats and bear in mind the oem guage is sh1te then you risk cracking the heads etc and causing alot more damage!! i would price it down the road and call the AA out and get them to take you to the garage ;)

If i'm only doing a mile or so and i make sure it is full of water before every trip so it can't overheat, am i going to do more damage??? or is it ok on very short trips???

the 300 engine warms up very quickly, you may get away with a few miles if its full of water but your always running a risk!!

DONT USE SEALER!!

As far as i'm aware the water ports/channels in the head are very narrow and sealer could end up blocking them or restricting flow. This will lead to eneven heating or compound any overheating if you already have a problem!

Best advice would be walk or hire a car for a few days...it'll return it's cost in saved repairs! Like Kirbz suggested move it from home and get the RAC/AA to take you to the garage..upgrade your membership first if you have too cheaper than arranging your own transport on beavertail truck as i've found out ;-)

I thought as much with the sealer.

Am i only going to do more damage if it overheats. If it dosent overheat at all will it be ok???
