Just looking into booking one.

They seem to range from 150.00 to 300.00 depending on where you book. How much time do you actually get on the track and is it something you can buy as a gift for someone else?

I find the best ones are through the clubs such as this becuase then you get more time on track and less cars (cue - chav going flying past you backwards on a corner!). You don't need to do many laps before you need to let the car cool down (standard brakes fade to nothing pretty quickly on a zed, and you should keep a beady eye on your temps). Its an excellent thing to do, just remember you'll probably go through a fair bit of rubber and brake pads, etc so there's other costs to consider as well.

Airfield days are worth a crack as well because you can really throw the car around and find its limits, whereas on a track you have to watch out for the barriers.

Book a open pit lane trackday - then you can go on and off track as much as you want, all day. :)

The amount you'll spend on the car is much more than the price of the trackday itself.

http://www.bookatrack.co.uk are excellent, very well organised and have low max booking numbers.

come to goodwood where i work. i cant remember the prices but its an awesome circuit. there are some beasts about too, they had a gt40 day the otherday, and a supercar day, veyron viper mclaren etc ohh and ofcourse the zed :P

Your hooked arent you? LOL

Trackdays.co.uk are doing a special at Brands hatch soon. I think it was £140 for an open pit track day. Personally I am not a fan of the more expensive days, seeing as you can drive to Germany and each lap of nuremberg costs about £8 (with the right special cards).

As Royal suggests join some track clubs, most are free to join or have low fees.

When I used to take my MR2 on track I usually get new tyres and pads about a week before I plan to go on track. Wear them in for a week, and burn them out on the day (then go back to the set previously on).

Not taken my zed on track yet, but no doubt I will at some point soon :)

I had my first trackday in March @ Bedford Autodrome on the Gran Turismo circuit booked through trackdays.co.uk

It was booked as a gift for me for my Birthday.

It was an open pitlane day which was awesome. My first 'stint' was about 35 minutes :p Then you just come and go as you please, I think max was 50 cars on track at one time but I never had to wait at pit exit to get onto the track.

One word of advice, stock Z brakes are unbeliveably cr@p. I had aftermarket pads, stock discs & calipers. They could not cope with the 130+mph --> 75mph stoppie on the main straight then 90 --> 30 mph straight after. Get some bigger discs asap.
