just got the car this week the car wasnt running when i bought it so i thought i would have to do engine rebuild if they engine was dead. i never worked on a car b4 so i had no clue wat i was doin, kid told me battery was good witch it wasnt changed the battery car started up but the radiator started leaking and the engine started smoking, replaced the radiator my self lol :x: i had no clue the tranmission fluid was connected to the radiator i thought motor oil was comin out of them hoses found out later it was tranmission fluid probly lost alot of that.. :headvswal

changed the radiator worked great engine stoped smokin no more radiator fluid leakin then my friends checked the motor oil stick it was dry so i thought it was empty so they put motor oil in it probly like 4 bottles :headvswal after that the muffler smokes like crazy now when i turn it on , dies down a lil after leavin the car on for a while but it still smokes alot every time i turn it on, so i talk to the kid who sold it to me he said that it alrdy had oil just the car hasnt been on for a while so it didnt show on the stick.. so i checked the stick and the moter oil is about 4 inches about the normal amount lol i havnt drove the car yet just been turnin it on could alot of oil make the mufflers smoke like that or sumthin else is wrong with the car.. HeLP!!

Is it a twin turbo? if so it could be the turbos are gone, is it white smoke?

You have over filled the engine oil. This will cause your exhaust to smoke, your oil pressure will be way over, forcing oil past the seals. Drain the oil and refill.

With your current technical ability i believe a engine rebuild on one of theses might be a bit of a challenge for you.

As for the gearbox fluid , the autobox cooler is in the radiator so i hope you have reconnected the oil pipes to your new cooler( you did use a auto radiator or even better a aftermarket oil cooler) and didnt let and dirt get into them, the gearbox takes 8.7 for the euro version and 7.7 litres for all others( the euro version had a bigger oil cooler for the gearbox) of dexron III oil.

Do not rev your engine if you believe it is smoking, find the reason why its smoking , rectify it, then rev freely.

If you have overfilled the oil it will be finding its way into the combustion process due to overfill and the high pressure, 3 litres of oil for a straight drain and refill , 3.4 if you are gonna do the filter as well.Do the oil immediately as you dont want the overfilling to pop seals out.
