Hi Syed,

If you can be a little patient then I may be able to help you. I should soon know whether or not I'll be permitted to become an official reseller of VIS Racing carbon fibre bonnets (in the UK that is). Should be another couple of weeks before I know for sure and will keep you informed of the outcome.

Cheers,

Dan

PS - how's the ECU working out for you?

ordered one from vis a few weeks ago very easy to deal with and delivered witihin 7 days

After speaking to Dan today I think it might pay people to hang fire for a bit instead of lookig further afield as he may be able to sort everyone out very nicely with these if all goes well ;)

i actually was going to paint mine but now it's on, it looks lovely :hyper:

Got any pics mate?

Ok - here's info on what is happening:

DTA-Motorsport (Netherlands) has good relations with VIS Europe and I will be working off the back of that relationship. What is going on right now is that I am negotiating with VIS Europe to become an official reseller of their kits here in the UK. However, as there are already various companies in the UK who are licensed to sell VIS kits there is a process that needs to be followed. This can take up to two weeks and negotiations just got under way this past Tuesday.

If everything goes according to (my) plan then VIS will do drop ship items for me directly to the customer. That way the customer doesn't have to pay for two lots of transportation costs.

I can not (at this time) comment on prices but will make that information available as soon as I know the deal between DTA (UK) and VIS (EU) will go ahead - I will post in the DTA section of the traders forum.

Have a look at the attached pics. There are currently two types of carbon fibre bonnets available from VIS. The Invader style has one large opening at the front which sits approximately over the radiator. The bonnet pins shown in the pic are not part of the VIS bonnet - they were added afterwards. The Techno R bonnet has three openings - one over the radiator and two over the strut supports. Those of you who were at JAE this year will have seen the latter bonnet installed on Eric's (Lymon) car (as seen in the pic). There are rumours that a third style is under development but I haven't been given any information on this so can't confirm that this is true.

So, keep your eyes peeled on the DTA-Motorsport section of the traders forum over the next two weeks for more information.

All the best,

Dan

Small addition to the above..theVIS Techno-R (as I have on my car) is an exact copy of the Border hood.

the third VIS CF bonnet is an exact copy of the stock bonnet but in CF

Do they all require bonnet pins?

No, none of them do. You can buy the bonnet pins separately and perform the necessary modifications to the bonnet to fit them.

I prefer them without and will probably paint the thing too. keep us posted danny, definately interested in the border style bonnet.

Eric, how is the fit and finish? Some cf bottets I have seen are just terrible.

John, I'm very impressed with the quality of VIS bonnets and the Techno-R fits like a stock bonnet.

The Invader bonnets I have seen had a problem with the bonnet hook being a bit too long and can not be fully closed for that reason, hence the reason some people fit bonnet pins when using that particular bonnet

Although I'm not sure if VIS maybe has changed the hooks on these bonnets since recently.

Regarding the use of bonnet pins:

VIS recommends the use of bonnet pins and not using them is at your own risk.

The VIS bonnet hook is made of fiberglass and glued to the bonnet.

If the wind is able to get under it with force (under high speed) the hook/glue won't hold very long and the result can be this:
