I aquired a laptop from work as a freebee and the screen resolution is sh!t, its a tosiba satellite 4030cds with a bog standard 98 install. The highest resolution I can get is 800x600. It will go higher but I have to move the crappy mouse (in keyboard) to the top and bottom of the screen to 'scroll' it up and down. I have tried updating the driver but makes no difference. Is 800x600 the best I'm gonna get ?

hi Paul - basically your hardware supports up to 800x600 after if you increase it its showing FAKE resolution which is a bigger screen (better than nothing) but still is 800x600 - unfortunately thats alll you gonna get unless you stick a monitor to your laptop and increase the resolution that you require

any techincal queries dont hestate to contact me

Fook, was hoping for better news, 300zx.co.uk looks crap at 800x600, never mind, will have to get used to it on the lappy, not on here much with it so it will have to do. CheerZ K9MAX

You might find it more usable if you plug a monitor into it as it may display the higher resolution then. You can pick them up very cheap now as people upgrade to flatscreens. 3 21" ones were being given away free on the freecycle webclubs the other day.
