With my foot to the floor my turbo gauge only reads 5.

 

Is this because I haven't got an aftermarket gauge and therefore the original one isn't correct, or do I have a problem?

Sounds like it's running on safety boost.

Mine does the same - but an aftermarket guage shows 15psi. You should be able to tell if you are in saftey boost - because it will be pig slow and you will be overtaken by chavmobiles!

After market boost guage? Or just the feel of the car (although difficult if you have nothing to guage it against..)

If your not used to the car running proper boost it will not seem slow.

 

You need to do an ECU blink test. It takes about 10 mins and you'll know if your showing any problems and therefore wether your on safety mode or not.

 

If you search for blink test or someone will post a link. I will if I can, but I'm a technophobe.

That does help, but not being very good with cars, how do I "connect into the wires behind the pins on the plugs indicated with the big yellow arrows"

 

Does this just mean connecting these two pins with another piece of wire?

 

Also does anyone have the other Error Code diagrams so that I know what the other flashing sequences are?

I just used a bit of wire about 2cm long and bent it over - poked it into the holes on the connector for 3 seconds with the ignition on, it will then flash the error until you turn the ignition off for more than 10sec

I'm assuming that the connection shown is connected to something else to start of with and that I have to simply unplug that first.

No that is for pluging in the Nissan Diagnostic computor. The blink test is for basic checks.
