i have been told that you could buy a bottle of this liquid that you add to the oil that softens up all seals and therefore makes them expand so that if there was a small leak ie;the tub seals,it would prevent the smoke exiting the exhausts.this is on sale in halfords for £4.99. i haven't tried it but was wondering if anybody else has? if this works i think it's a must for all our cars even if there appears to be no problems at the moment. what do you think? :hyper:

I tried this stuff in my 1.9 gti and it did nothing .WASTE OF MONEY :D

I did an article on the various things you add to oil once - slick 50 etc etc.

I spoke to Silkolene's chief R&D chemist and he said they varied between expensive but pointless to very damaging.

 

This sounds slightly different so maybe it works? Chunk generally knows the score though.

Anything they sell in halfords has to be taken with a pinch of salt bud, alot of their products are none working none destructive additives that are badged up to make it sound like your nova will go 30mph faster just by adding it to the standard mix
