Just installed a boost gauge and it's showing 6psi, 6.5-6.8 in third gear.

What is standard boost in psi?

Vacum is at 20

had a quick look around the engine today and there is a hiss coming from the back of the engine somewhere, if there is a boost leak is it recognisable?

also what is a boost leak test?

btw, you can tell if you are in safety on datascan because the boost solenoids will never come on.

I'm not very familiar with datascan as I don't use it often but what should I look for ?

EDIT: hope I'm not confusing, datascan = BlaZt software and not expensive Consult, keep forgetting which is which lol

look at the bottom of the display, you will see boost solenoids

There was EGR solenoid which was on and Wastegate solenoid which was off, does that say anything?

Off all the time? It will only come on when you give it some boot, if its off all the time you're in safety.

[mine shows no errors and its got no hicas]. quote dave8uk

No hicas a thought all twin turbos had hicas unless you put a na subframe on.

yes it comes on when I press the pedal and goes off when on idle

hope that rules out safety boost for certain.

So if it's still boosting at 6 psi and if it's not in safety boost what other reasons are there? I've checked all the pipes and the rubber pipe that goes behind the battery across the rear of engine was cut in half  so I've managed to tape that temporarily with insulation (I know I know) tape but it made no difference whatsoever.

Help.

On mine the wastegate solonoids were disconnected. It had a boost controller fitted at some stage then removed and the solonoids were not reconnected, could be that.

Everything is connected apart from one pipe which is just next to the engine oil dipstick and it's got a screw on it, any ideas what that might be?

here's a pic of it, it's right next to the red pipe
