As some of you will know, ive spent some on my zed recently and now have Smithys big brake kit, stillen anti roll bars, goodridge hoses, greddy profec B spec II, apexi induction, scorpion exhaust and datascan.

When i brought the car i was told it has a jwt chip in (need to check i know...), has lots of hard pipes/ stainless bling under the bonnet from various forume sources.

I want the car to be faster, it handles nicely now, but just doesnt "feel" that fast. What can i do to make it feel faster.. (not looking at the extreme of getting the engine out for new turbos.)

I know i need to look at the chip and probably swap to john dixon or andyp's chips, but what else?

Thanks andy (Auto uk TT)

Not much else to do without new tubs tbh, theres better IC's, bigger injectors but with stock turbo's you won't really be taking advantage of them. Take the windows out, that will make it feel quicker

NOS or actualy taking bits of the car out to make it lighter.

Haha NOS! Wasnt thinking of going that route, although i guess for £600 ish not bad way to get extra power. How much will it effect the insurance?

I was thinking along the lines of bigger injectors and a more aggressive map and something like 14psi? That be safe on standard turbos? And would the car feel much quicker...? Guessing anything over about 16psi just be maxing the turbos and intercoolers?

As for the windows, i always try and drive with the windows down, and targas off lol

As for lightening, ive got the aircon on my hit list, and the hicas as well. Also been thinking along the lines of lightened pullys from smithy... Wasnt sure if that would make the car feel faster or just the engine a bit more revyy?

14-15 psi is what most people are running. If you want to go more then 16psi you would need the bigger injectors and intercoolers, but by then the tubs are getting inefficient, so it would be time to go bigger.

The JWT is a pretty tame, JD does excellent remaps that are safe and make more power through the entire range.

Decat, Lightweight pulleys & Flywheels all make noticable improvements.

Maybe i should turn my profec up a bit then, i tend to run about 12.5 psi. Guessing i should go out and try the car at 14 psi and see how it feels. Not sure about decat with the horror stories ive read here.

Guess a medium aggresive chip would help with the feeling as well. What sort of injectors do people go for in zeds as upgrades? They easily drop in or need fuel rail modifications?

You will see a noticable power increase by going to 14/15psi.

555 Nismo injectors. Plenum needs to come off to fit them, and fit standard fuel rail. Although most fit them when going to bigger turbos, as the couple of extra psi they allow you to go to on stuck turbos is'nt really worth the £500+ (excluding labour) cost of bigger injectors. Good modification for future mods though. You will need chip mapped for 555 injectors.

AS others have already mentioned, light underdrive pulley will let the engine rev out a lot quicker. You say you have exhaust already, is that a full exhaust (dumps)?

I know how you feel, I'm getting hi-flowed turbo's fitted soon. Then later on 555s, larger SMIC's & aftermarket ECU, & probably fuel pressure regulator.

Full exhaust but does still have the cats in. Do have 2x blitz BOV's but if i do have new turbos at any stage, i would go for a more racey downpipe / manifold option to make the most of it.

Think im going to go for 14pis over the next few months and then get the aircon/hicas out. Looking towards the full lightened pully set after that and see how the car feels after that.

Thanks for the help guys...

By how much and why SIM300 ?

A stock Zed's base timing is 15 degrees. Increase the timing will give you more power. There's a good write up @ twinturbo.net.

I currently have mine set to 18, but you can set it into the 20's (depending).

problem with adjusting your timing is you could start getting detonation, esp if running higher boost. i would do that with caution!

ECU remap chips advance your timing at the most advantage points through the range...and are based on a stock base timing of 15 degrees. If you increase the stock base timing, then there is strong chance of sever detonation when combined with a Chip.

Just let the aftermarket chip do the work! It increases the timing at the correct times, instead of just everywhere.
