merc 190 cosworth

 

I really like the look of them so I'm considering getting one. Anyone had any experience of them?

 

not really fussed about mods but must be manual and preferably black.

I like them, although image is a bit dodgy - very pimp/dealer now.

two of my mates have had them, they thought they were really good motors

Back end looks low, couple of bodies in the boot? :p

lol I have a sneeking suspicion you could be right about the bodies!!

Certainly is a pimping rider which is why the ladies loved it :bow:

Used to have a red one :)

It was a Lowered even more than the std cossies and would scrape an ant off the road :dance:

Plenty of Bump'n'Grind

Although it was an auto :rolleyes:

The chassis was total feedback...

Closest handling car to the M3 you'll find

Never had any problems with it except the auto box needed regular oil checks and the valves re-ground on the head.

I have been in many newer cars (C 2000+) and their not half as smooth or luxurious as the merk was.

Good soild cars with nice dog leg manual box aswell and lsd i belive.

that's it, mind is made up, I'm gonna see if I can find a decent one. Not really in a hurry so I can take my time and do some proper research.

 

Thing that worries me is.....Mrs. Sanchez may want to drive it instead of her avensis........

as i remember top gear did a feature of the top future classics, the merc cosworth being one and the Corrado Vr6 being the other, vey nice the merc but sooner go for the Corrado vr6 myself

I have had both corrado VR6 and Merc cosworth and they are two completley different beasts. The VR6 2.9 was a real cracking engine and it looked great, but being FWD it was a bit girly and torque steer was a killer. The merc was a real drivers car and at the time was a very close 2nd to the BMW M3 a much better car than than the VR6. If you can find a good original one with full service history - go for it. You wont regret it.

I think you will be lucky to find a good one, will all be high mileage. However the 2.5 16 Valve was slightly quicker than the BMW M3 of the same era IIRC.

Love them both .. but the Corrado for me ... as a second car of course .. lol

i never got to the vr6 i got the Zec instead, i had the G60 and loved her to death can not compare the Z to the Rado two diff animals.

Yep they did, Hamster drove the Merc and loved it!....mind you he recommended the auto though. Perhaps because he was too small to reach the clutch? :rofl:

I'd go for the Merc. Just something I'm not that keen on with Corrados. Find they've aged pretty badly. Merc's aged, but in a different way.

 

I prefer the old 320CE really. Really elegant car and is ripe for a supercharged V8 conversion. :)

Im a big fan of these but keep it clean and get rid of the rear spoiler............some nice big AMG rims..........tint the windows and just drop it a tad..............ummmmmmmmm lovely

It starts up but i havent tried for a while as the battery is completly dead......needs a fair bit of attention..........bodywork was recently resrayed and it has 17" alloys aswell............

 

Will try and get you some pics when i get a chance

 

Wont be asking for much so would be perfect for you as i know how much these cars can fetch once in good condition
