On removal of my aftermarket wheels i noticed i have no spigot rings although there is an obvious gap between the bore of the wheel and the "mounting boss" on the hub. I was wondering do i need them or is it best to have them? If so what size would i need? It is a JDM '90 twin turbo if that makes any difference.

Cheers guys.

My car is in the same position. Its more a function of getting the wrong alloy wheels really. I couldnt get any spigoot rings to fit my zed as the gap was only a few mm. So long as you get the wheel central before you tighten the nuts it should be fine.

Its best to have the wheel a tight fit, but finding the correct size rings might just be too difficult.

Why not try wrapping some insulation tape around to increase the diameter, then put the wheel on, then find some rings.

What I really need to know is the outside diameter of the mounting (or the inside dameter of the spigot ring) I am sending my wheels away for a refurb see thread:

So the wheels won't be on the car so there is no danger of snapping the studs right now. As far as I am aware its always been like this and none of the wheels have spigot rings. I didn't fit the wheels myself and have only made this discovery recently in light of my problems with the wheel.

If your wheels require a spigot ring, there is usually a small recess in the back of the wheel hub, if there is not then it probably do not need them. I had a set of Enkeis and they did not require them. If in doubt, pop into an alloy wheel centre and ask them.

Most jdm after market wheels tend to have a 73mm centre bore to allow for multiple 5x114.3 pcd hubs .You need a 73mm to 66.1 ring i have a set on my advans 73mm marked on one side and 66.1 on the other. If its not 73mm measure inside of the wheel where it mates against hub .Most alloy wheel shops will have various sizes in stock for about £1 each .

spiggot rings are vital in your rims unlesss you have direct fit alloys, and by the sound of it, you dont, the main problem with not havin them, is as andy p said, it can cause wheel studs to snap and also you get wheel wobble aswel if the wheel is not centered, for what they cost, its worth havin them fella, just go to your local alloy wheel shop.
