can insurance companies tell if you have points or disqualifications on your driving license? i didnt think they could but a friend of mine tried to insure his car and he was told by the woman on the phone that he had a driving ban which he hadnt declared

Sorry mate, awkward one, as the police cameras are calibrated reguarly, to maintain that they are accurate. If the speedo and sat nav show that amount of difference, you should always go with what the vehilce speedo is saying. As if you use that as a defense it it goes to court, you can put money on it the police will have it covered, that their kit is accurate.

You can always try the im really sorry approach, and need to keep your insurance premiums down as you have too many other commitments, (family, mortgage, rent etc) chances are the pionts will stand. Sorry.

 

Ok, cheers for that anyway m8, suppose I'll just have to take this one on the chin as it were!

My mate is well lucky. He has just come off his ban and his insurance is well cheap because he was convicted more than 5 years ago so dosent affect it. He got a 5 year ban for drink driving on a drink driving ban!

 

Didnt loose his licence, just got a straight ban so he is now 31 with a clean licence which he has had for over 10 years!

 

Drink Driving offences stay on your licence for 11 years !!!

Yeah i meant he didnt have to retake his test, just got his licence back automatically.

 

As far i understand it with points, after 3 years they cant be used against you in court, 4 years you can remove them from you licence and 5 years you dont have to declear them to your insurance company.

 

It might be 10 years for drink driving I'm not sure.
