I'm after an engine for my 1992 TT auto import.

Can anyone offer something decent at a sensible price?

I have just bought a 58k engine from a 1994 TT Auto that has just been imported from Japan cost me £750. My own engine which was run without water is being pulled apart next week. If it turns out my engine is OK I will be selling it on. (engine in currently in the doner car so have heard it running and done compression tests etc. If it may be of interest let me know. I will let you know if my engine has just done the head gasket, in which case I will repair.

Or if it has destroyed my engine I will use it myself.

I will have one available in about a week.

Its a TT manual engine, on 61k miles.

Its currently being fully rebuilt by 300zx specialists - SWZ Performance with :

new Head gasket

new cam seals

new rear main seal

new rocker cover gaskets

Plenum Water bypass

EGR Removal

New PCV valves

60k Service (Waterpump, Thermostat and Cambelt)

Rings and Bearings replaced

Engine will be compression tested before made available.

Price to be £800-£1000 depending on final rebuild cost.

i'll post here too so you see it ;)

Will this engine come with any kinda of warranty?

What will be missing from it, ie, turbos, plenum, cas etc?

Im after a new motor, and a recently built one sounds ideal, so please DO NOT SELL!

Yep engine comes with full 50 year warrenty, Teas maid and free entry to all the cat houses in Hamsterdam for life.

Get real mate £1000 for a rebuilt engine is buttons. If I were you I'd rip his arm off.

It does not mention rings or bearings being inspected or replaced so it is not a rebuilt engine. And it had the head gasket replaced. Why ?

wot should the compression be roughly when a compression test is done?

In the range of 155-175psi from memory, with only about 5psi difference between cylinders.

Engine was removed due to turbo and suspected head gasket failure so Tubs are are not included. Plenum and CAS is included.

I will speak to SWZ tomorrow to check on warranty details.

Obviously all rings and bearings will be checked and replaced where required. Head gasket gets replaced when you remove heads for rebuild along with all other Gaskets. All parts of engine including Heads are being pressure tested and inspected at engineering shop before re-assemble.

if its a rebuilt engine then they should be renewed especially for that money.this is the bloke who reckons you should always fit a water pump when fitting a cambelt but is willing to rebuild an engine maybe using the old rings and bearings if they are within tolerance.surely youd change those whilst its out!!!!.

I only summarised the details, briefly from top of my head. I've only removed it and stripped myself, Im not rebuilding it. I let the experts do that.

Those in glass houses should be carefull throwing stones !..... this is the bloke who rebuilds an engine without even checking or replacing the waterpump until he finds the thing leaking when customer comes to collect !!

the pump wasnt replaced as funki didnt want to spend the money.you can check the bearing float of a pump but as for inspecting the seal without stripping it is impossible.at least it did get a FULL rebuild including rings and bearings .would you like someone whos done one to show you how to grade the bearings and measure ring wear??

Was the impellor also checked for correct fin alignment? I've removed a couple where the fins were virtually squashed down and together, not delivered anywhere near the stock efficiency but were'nt leaking.

Thanks for the offer James, but I have SWZ doing the rebuild and they've done quite a few VG30's already in the past month.

Dave, it sounds like parrot mechanics again......

I can only presume you mean Im a parrot for repeating the engine spec given to me by my mechanic ? :wack:

Want to explain ?

By the way Dave, is this engine being rebuilt to a price (i.e.cheap) or to recommendations from SWZ. What takes priority.

Its being built to a OE Specifications. All Gaskets, bearings, rings are being replaced. The head and block are being fully inspected. All OEM parts installed.

All seals and gaskets replaced for future proofing, Plus its having EGR removal, New PCV's, Water bypass for Improved reliablity and running.

was there a particular reason why you were asking......did you want to buy it ?, or are you and your son(jimmer) who works at a Competitor company to SWZ along with the ex-friend of the owner of SWZ just trying to show yourselves up by making trouble....hmmm..Im sure you would'nt lower yourselves to that level
