There's a nice article in this month's "Practical Classics" mag comparing the 300ZX (looks very similar to mine) to a Renault Alpine GTA V6 (p38). As I've never driven the GTA I don't know if the author is right when he he says he'll "take the Renault Alpine GTA, thank you very much" because his heart dominates his head, but I know which car looks the best! Any comments?

Somebody mentioned the article to me the other day, look forward to reading it.

I believe its between Both NA's, and it says something about the 300zx being a lot faster and more reliable.

I;ve never been a fan of the GTA, but I know a lot of people are.

one of my mates had a GTA everything that could go wrong with it did and none of the electrics worked properly

youre having a laugh arnt you, the zx is elvis in his prime and the alpine is elvis in his fat bloated ugly days...it looks awfull.

I can think of no reason to go for the alpine over the zx, a friend of mine had one when i had my audi 20v quattro, and i plumped for the quattro then and would still choose both the zx and the quattro over it now

I Hate French Cars! Had A 5gtt Once Spent More Time Being Fixed!!!reno Junk!!!

Most magazine car journalists talk out of their arses. There was a small magazine for bangers that was funny though, that was years ago though.

Right guys get it from the horses mouth, I had a BBR converted Alpine GTA V6 turbo with a 275 bhp motor, back in the 80s,, it was fast OK, but would not stand a chance in hell against a Z32 TT (well not my one :D ) .... Who is this muppet that writes for practical classics???

Send the :xxx: :xxx: to me,, I'll show him :smash: :smash: :mac1:

I've been around a lot longer than practicle classics  trust me guys.

well thats it settled, just need to write to him in disgust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, I've not read the article (just had it sumarised to me) but I believe he did say the 300zx was a lot faster, he just preferred the french thing as a classic motor  (no accounting for taste, eh :wack: )

I think the NA Z32 would of actually have been a fairer match for the GTA Turbo !

Same for me   Renault :mac1:

Funny how magazines perform comparison tests, there is a clear winner on results yet the writer then picks the one he happens to like best

WhatCar did a road test between Mk3 Supra Turbo, MAzda RX7 Turbo (not the latest version, but the "middle" one and the Alpine GTA n/a back in 1990.

The Supra was the better car in all areas except handling; it was faster, more comfortable, easier to own etc etc. The GTA was worst on most areas. On their "blob" scoring the Supra was tops by a very long way and the GTA bottom. YET the writer still cast his verdict on the GTA :xxx:

I do happen to like the GTA turbo, but never even considered it in the running when I bought my 300zx.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I've always liked the look of the A610. Lovely looking car. But would never choose one over a 300ZX.

Ur Quattro was the first series of quattro turbos in the country and came in a limited amount, it was 10v , the 20v was a later engine and a lot less laggy, loved the thing, the s1 in your piccie is rare as now and still commands big bucks.

the white one is a 10v (the very same to the one my pops used to own) and the red one is the 20v and looks like it might be a short sport! only ever seen one 20v ur quattro shorty for sale and the was 65k and about 5 yrs ago too!

Looks like a Z31 not a Z32
