Looked at the history for my car today, and have just noticed that it has been covering 2000 miles a year since 1998, and only covered under 1000 miles in the last year, prior to me owning it (I had done 500 miles in 2 weeks, but only at 600 miles for 3 weeks now!)

Therefore the car has done 15k since 1998...is this some kind of record?!?

Anyway, my question is this: From looking at the history, the last cam belt change was in 1998 when the car was on 80k and the car is now on 95k.

I know cambelts should be changed every 60k or 5 years (roughly) but this car has only covered 15k in 8 years, should I change it?

Ive always been told that if there is any doubt about the cambelt then just change it. If I was you, I would just get it done so you have the peace of mind.

Mines only done 11,000 miles since 2001  when i bought it

Only 11k since 2001?

I don't intend to do huge miles, but whats the point in owning a car and not driving it?

I only drive it in summer and i was unemployed for 2 years so I stored it. But saying that I only do about 3 or 4 thousand miles per year in it. But those are full on, foot to the floor miles

my z had a similar story as yours and was told cambelt had been done recently, but i decided to change it anyway, on removal of the cam covers it was obvious the belt hadn't been changed. ifi had taken the sellers word id be looking for a new engine now.

Alot of people buy cars like these and only drive them as a second car or in the summer or at weekends like me!!

I know, I intend to do the same, but I would have thought I would do a few more miles than that!

When i got mine (march) it had 112K now has 118K. it was a company car new and did 80K in 1st 2 year's. So the man i got it from had it 10 year's and only did 32k and never changed the cam belt, so i didn't drive the car untill i had it done. Could only look at it for 3 weeks

When i got mine in had 72589 on the clock and that was Over 2 years ago it now say's 72748 and i know i have done more than 5000 mile's oop's :) Damn trip Motor!! :headvswal
