Took my tt in to a long established local Nissan dealer on Sat morning for an oil change, didn't get it back until 12.30 when they were closing. I noticed later when I got home, that they had damaged my front bumper, it had been damaged repaired before I got the car, but looked quite good still. I was going to get a different bumper/bodykit etc when funds allow. Now it looks awful, there is a big chunk of the surface missing and you can see the orangy white stuff underneath (it looks bit of a mess), which I was hoping to avoid before I got new stuff. What could I do about it, won't they just say the bumper had been damaged before and was weak in that spot? I expect they caught it as they were driving it onto the ramp or something!

Unless you get them to fill out a vehicle condition report when you take the car to them and then check it before you pay the bill you stand zero chance of getting any compensation I am afraid, I make them fill it out purely because my car does not have a single scratch on it and it makes me smile when they walk round and cant find anywhere at all to put a cross on their piece of paper. but bare that in mind next time as all main dealers have these forms they just dont tell anyone.

Yes, I dare say they will deny all knowledge of it when I take it back later! I phoned them and was told to take it back and speak to the manager! I daresay I will not have a leg to stand on.

trust me i work for a dealership and if you complain till your blue in the face they WILL pay for the repair. like said above a vehicle report sheet MUST be filled in before they do any work on the car.

But being a saturday, work is the last place you want to be so they probably did'nt do one.

just stamp your feet and scream it usualy works lol.

I always check any car or van I take to have serviced by a main Dealer, as also worked for a main dealer and know the things that go on. My works van was serviced last year at Mr Clarks and when I went to collect it the rear quarter was bashed in quite significantly. I went to the reception again and said my van was bashed and in the end it was repaired FOC by the dealership.

The service manager looked at it and said "if we have done that, I am sorry", but said they wouldn't repair it as it had been damaged and repaired before, and proceeded to break another tiny piece off as I looked on, when he was showing me where it was cracked already!!!

I defo felt like doing!! I suppose I will have to leave it, but may just try speaking to a solicitor and see what he says.

Rightousness can be had withwww.moneyclaim.gov.uk

95% of these claims are never pursued by this service as almost every retailer relents and sorts it to the consumers satisfaction. You can rattle the cage of the Nissan dealer for only £15.
