Just got back from ten of the best what a fantastic day never seen as many car in action, lots of 10 sec skylines and i belive at on the top speed run 203mph was acheived well impressed. Anyhow wasnt impressed in the car park there were abundance of evos,skylines,subarus,rx7s,cossies,dodge vipers ect ect... BUT NOT ONE 300ZX They all break down on the same day?where was evreybody? Cant belive out of 100 entries in the competion aswell no 300zx either? There was even honda crxs,corsas, and a mini clubman estate racing would of been nice to see a zed in the list.

Apart from that exellent day big thanks to kirbz for tagin along even though his sat nav was drunk

 

Most awsome car i saw was a mark 2 ford granada looking way standard badged up as a 2.8i and had hidden under its bonnet was lurking a 6.3 chevy LT1 corvette engine with supercharger and a little over 750hp.

End of the day Zeds are not that quick to enter into something like this. Macca will be quick but still not come first in anything like this. I think its people like to think the Zed is the fastest car out there and dont like being reminded it'a NOT.

 

Thats not a slte on the Zed, just my thoughts on the subject of ten of the best and there being no Zeds there.

Its not the matter of coming first its the taking part even chavy corsas had a bash and 2 vw siroccos even had a run or two. Im sure 300zx tt would also be evenly matched with some of the mitsubishi gtos running both 3 litre twin turbo. Whats the piont of calling it a supercar if nody willing to show how well they preform from mild to wild tuned?Skylines are well proven to be king but they still show there authoity on the track just would of been nice to see a 300 or two.

most of the cars that ran today all started as wallowing slow ish cars to start with!!

 

you have 2 ton RWD supras running 9s and 10s

 

you have skylines which yes are a little quicker but only a high 12 sec car standard

 

scoobies/evos are a little lighter and better handling but again with suspension mods i would give any scooby a good go at handling

 

So really it comes down to how far your willing to go ;) tune it, lighten it, suspension mods etc etc and you could have a 10 sec zed which will go over 190 and go round the handling course in a decent time

 

dont get me wrong a zed will never win totb but i hope to put mine in it next year and would be gutted if i didnt get any points

Yeah, but tuning a Robin Relient wouldn't make it a supercar would it? Anyone who honestly thinks the Zed is a true supercar is kidding themselves. Yes you can spend £50k on one to "turn" it into a supercar. But then it would no longer be a Zed.

1/2 of the cars that go to TOTB aren't supercars. Corsas with Calibra turbo engines etc....would have been nice to see a good high power Z there. Unfortunately there's only a small handful of them there and iirc, I don't think Macca has ever taken his up the strip for some reason.

Dream of ownership mmmmmmmm 900hp supercharged dodge viper that was there in black was knee trembling But have to confess saw a lovley midnight purple skyline r34 gtr with 19" volks that was so clean and sutle it was jaw dropping!

handling wise

 

times ranged from mega times from the likes of the dax rush of 36 sec upto 50 sec for mr2!! again i fancy some of that

 

and none of the RWD cars got in the top 10 for 1/4 mile and the slowest was 10.4 which i know is very very fast but again if we can get one in the 10's then we stand a REAL chance of scoring some good points for our club and i tell thee if we got a field of 10 cars ranging from stage 1 tuned to mega tuned we will score points in top speed and 1/4 mile ;) alot of the rwd cars were not even breaking 14s

Just been reading a few posts on the rx7 forum about TOTB. Sounds like the surface wasn't the best for it? lots of sideways action on the dragstrip??!The dragon Rx7 (the one above) did a 9.6 1/4 at Santa Pod the other day. I take it there's only a limited distance for the cars to set top speed? like at brunters?

It'll be great to see your car at these events Kirbz, its about time the 300 was put on the map, and Macs (come on mate!). Boomins new Zed has to be capable of a some impressive things as well. It just needs the owners to be decent drivers to post some good scores.

A zed even mildly tuned should easily be with a chance come on people dont be all show and no go.

The "chavvy Corsa" won the FWD class!! 2.0 engine with nitros, standard steel wheels and wheel trims. Good on him!!

yup it was badged as a diesel hudge respect to him for the wolf in sheeps clothing. tie wrapped wheels trims was a nice touch

my own 300 i havn't modded it much engine wise, so wouldn't dream of putting it near a track 3 litre tt and some odds and sods is plenty for what I WANT it for,

 

i wish i had the time to build ANOTHER to the specs Iain, Kirbz Rich etc are doing/done, but i certainly wouldnt be putting one on the track with 19" alloys

skirts/front bumper etc etc

most of these track cars are uprated to hell, but how many cars stock for stock would live with a zx??

and from the specs of the guys above are building i'd put them in the top half

of cars we see, and they certainly LOOK the dogs as well:)

 

the one i have at the moment is ideal for poodling up and down motorways, and everyday life, but track nooooooooooo lol
