ahhh your covered 100 % for signing deffinitely, due to chip and pin any signed card usage is 100% down to the shop to meet fraudulent costs as they accepted it.

See if they can get any cctv images of anyone using your card !

Happened to my Auntie 6 months ago and they took just over 3k and the bank were funny about giving it back but they did eventually

Just a little warning to everyone down South. Tesco in Hythe is very very bad for having cards cloned. Try not to use the machines in the future.

Happenedto me a couple of years ago on my VISA card.Found I had 2 transactions...1 for £2500 for a PC from Dell of all places and another for £495 for something else. What amazed me was surely Dell must have shipped the PC to an address, but they didn't check it was the same address the card was registered to.....dumb fookers!!!!

i think someone has worked out how to clone chip&pin now too - IIRC Shell petrol stations have got this problem at the moment and i always have to sign if i use my card.

That was on the news a few weeks ago.

Im sure they worked out that the actual card reader had been tampered with first so someone in the petrol station had allowed a villan to have access ?

Sorry about your problem mate, but at least your bank appears willing to accept it wasn't your fault. Barclays are constantly ringing my husband to check up on some of the larger card transactions to make sure his cards not been stolen or chipped. Can be a right pain sometimes but better that then something go through that isn't right.

there are two types of chip and pin , the expensive good one that is encoded which they use in europe and the cheap unencoded one ...guess which one the UK uses
