edk83
I was planning on taking the z to jae tomorrow but not any more! It went in for a clutch and other bits on monday and i just got it back. Had full power before it went but clutch would slip above 5000rpm. Clutch works fine but i have no power at all! Coolant temp is normal, no smoke etc, it just wont go above 4000rpm, drives ok below that but the power is low. Its still making full boost and doesnt feel like its misfiring. Drives ok up to 3000rpm, i switched it to high boost and floored it in 3rd, it climbed to 3700 slower than usual then stopped firing on all cylinders, head about hit the windscreen. Tried to accelerate above 4000rpm slowly and progressivly and its just wont go, but not misfiring? Still getting 8psi on low and 12psi on high at 4k rpm. Also the fuel gauge went down about the same as when booting it so dont think its a fuel problem. Any ideas? Is definatly going back on monday morning but can anyone point me in the right direction? Autobeast
It could be a faulty MAF or a dodgy connector on it.
edk83
yeah i had considered this, i might unplug the maf and ptu and reconnect them in a bit.
Retro620ti
my maf can play up sometimes if a bit of damp gets in it, a lot like the symptoms you are having
edk83
OK i do think its the maf. I disconnected the batt for an hour, cleaned all the connectors on the maf and ptu, resecured a connection on a coil pack and took it out. First time i tried to accelerate i got to 6000k rpm with only one major misfire! 2nd time misfired loads and would not go above 5k. all the other attempts it went to 6k rpm smothly and quickly! yey! I was about to turn round and do it again on high boost but ran out of water due to my other problem water leak!
edk83
OK im loosing about 1-2 litres of water per 10 miles. What i think is happening is that the stat is only half opening and loads of pressure is building up. The rad is then overflowing into the expansion tank and thats overflowing into the chassis which is why the water coming out is cold, its a mixture of hot, cold from the expansion tank and cold from the chaais. When i pulled up today i could hear running water like had left a tap on, around the expansion bottle area. It was the sound of water running onto plastic, either the rad into the expansion bottle or the overflow of the bottle on to one of the plastic underbelly trays. After letting it cool down the rad took 2.5 litres to fill back up and the chassis was full of water!. There is also a hiss of escaping water/bubbles coming from behind the glove box and it seems to be leaking there. It hisses when you rev the car so it must be under pressure. it also hisses as soon as you start the car from cold, as the car is reving slightly higher? The water the comes out is cold tho. I think its leaking into the chassis and cooling off before coming out, when i accelerate i can hear water running down the car, loads of it like a river! Rainbow ZTT
I,ve had two Z tts and on both of them if the cooling system runs low the car will not run right. This could be the main prob. Get that sorted, make sure the system full and this might sort it.
