after all these threads about knocking/det etc. im starting to get worried about a noise that my engine has recently started to make.

if you rev, in gear, slowly up the scale, once it reaches about 2600rpm it suddenly sounds like an old diesel engine, exacly like an old diesel engine. this continues up the rev scale although ive only taken it slowly up to 3500ish before backing off.

under normal driving it wont make the noise, even when i thrash the car a bit. it still performs ok and doesnt make the noise. it only happens when you slowly build the revs up, and again only after about 2600rpm.

ok bring on the bad news :(

EDIT: it makes the sound in neutral too. :(

PT, you say its the injectors clicking, I have the same thing, just on the left side - Is it a problem, or a 'don't worry about it "just" yet'?

Cheers
