I dont have any fancy Engine ECU's fitted, mine is standard. Absolutely nothing happens when I try to connect, Iam gonna hook up me mobile to the laptop and see if windows will download an appropriate driver......more than likely next week now as I am going away tomorrow until next saturday......but this wont beat me for sure.

Cheers for the replies guys.

Well I`ve just tried mine and it connected with no problems, I let windows search the net for the drivers then changed the port number in datascan to match the port number in device manager (ie 6) and changed the port speed in device manager to 9600 and connected first time.

But what does it all mean??????? lol

looking at that screenie i would say you took it with the engine not at normal operating temp and your af is lean at idle so i would want to see the o2 sensor info

aye it had only been idling for a couple of minutes, I was just checking to see if it would work really, I will take another next time i go out and stick it up. The car is a shed so I imagine it will make interesting reading for someone who understands it all that is.

I can confirm what retro620ti is saying, the usb cables from legrath's group buy do NOT work with the driver from the blatz website, only the one that gets found online by windows. Also, it will only connect with the engine running if i remember correctly.

mate i have tried to find the 4.28 version but the only place is a pay for website on driver upgrades, the version 4.38 is the one that doesnt recognise the cables either, if i copy the driver files and their location and mail them to you do you know if you manually place them in their respective file locations will they work?, im willing to try if you want mate

Retro that would be brilliant mate, its worth a try, the only thing is that I am off on holiday in the morning till saturday and i wont get the laptop back from work till i pick up my van again next weekend but if i have files and file locations that would be a start.

I'll pm you my e-mail address mate.

  • 3 weeks later...

Did anyone get any further with this? Ive just tried mine and it also wont connect.

Ive tried the drivers windows installs from the net and the blatz ones. Also tried changed the port to be the correct one and change the speed to 9600. spent over an hour and a half dicking about!

Seems like I am not alone...... What have i gotta do to get datascan to work? :headvswal

is the cable recognized by computer, if it is then it isnt a software problem or a cable one but something that isnt going right.

Cable is recognised, drivers installed and set to COM4. If I try other ports I get the Invalid port message. Cant work this one out!

I still havent got mine working. I insalled AOL on my laptop and tried to install the drivers for the cable, but windows cant find the drivers. So still no Datascan for me.

Ive got a wireless card in my lappy connected to the internet so the drivers arent the problem. Device Manager is happy with drivers.

I have also installed the blatz driver but it wont connect. I have the ports set same as yours to com port 4, again still no connection.

Retro sent me the drivers but they didnt work either and i thought windows would find them but they didnt. I did a search for the specific driver, and found it, but the site wanted 30 dollars so i left it.
