I'm no wheeler-dealer but my old company (EMAP) used to sell shares to employees at a discount. I was there five years so I have quite a few.

 

They dropped 13% today.

 

That'll teach me I guess - but I've lost a fair few bob today. :mad: :cry:

 

Alvin Hall always used to say only keep 25% of your money in high-risk investments and I'll be sticking to that from now (well, once they've climbed back and I've made some losses back :x: )

That doesn't always work - ask people about the dotcom boom !!!! You should have a stop/loss system, that way when you reach a certain loss point you bail out pronto, before it's too late and invest in something that's rising.

What Andy said.....and if your shares double in value, sell half of them straight away.

what alvin hall didnt tell you is he invests the other 75% in bow ties :tongue:

u havnt 'lost' the money until you sell them. shares can come back up again.
